A New Jersey native, Malcolm McMichael earned his BFA and MFA in Dance from Montclair State University, where he presented a solo work entitled "EMBODIED: Horton, Graham, and Contemporary Dance in Live-Media Performance"  in 2026. Malcolm has performed as a member of Graham 2, Christal Brown: INSPIRIT, Lindsey Hanson Collective, and Claire Porter's PORTABLES, and has danced works by Martha Graham, José Límon, Earl Mosley, Stephen Shynes, and Pattaya Hart, among others. His artistry has brought him to both concert and commercial spaces such as Panorama Music Festival, Joe's Pub, The Joyce Theater, Jacob's Pillow, and The Kennedy Center. 
   In addition to performing, Malcolm has been a Modern Dance educator to youth and adults since 2012. He fortifies his teaching through ongoing trainings, including the Ailey-Horton Teacher certification at The Ailey School (in progress) and a 200 HR certification from YogaRenew. His teaching credits include Joffrey Ballet School, Teens@Graham, Dancewave, Ballet & Beyond NYC, and Concepts Dance Academy. Malcolm has also been a guest choreographer for Dancewave Youth Company II, where he currently serves on its Artistic Advisory Council.
